Running on Empty Dreams
Film making 101:Sorry. I have seen a lot of lesbian themed films and I REALLY WANTED TO LIKE THIS. Don’t get me wrong its not the worst film ever made …but the premise was so confusing!?! The DVD jacket says “Forced to Deny their Feelings” WHAT?! when? Their first kiss was so, ew, cold. no heat. I never once got a feeling these women were “hot” for each other. I never once got the sense that they were attracted to each other.FAULT #1: LOW BUDGET. You can always tell low budget by the long single shots at say, a table, or washing dishes with no cut always. CLOSE UPS could have provided some intimate moments between the 2 women.FAULT #2: WEIRD SCRIPT? (HUGE RELIGIOUS OVERTONES) WHO was this film made for?FAULT #3 : When how and why am I supposed to believe these women both turned lezbo and the way it unfolded was sooooo BAD Made-for-TV awkward and not believable. I found myself with my jaw opened several times yelling out loud “oh hell no that did NOT just happen?!”PLUS: GOOD ACTORS. Rachel Owens, Kathleen Benner and I did like the lead male in particular, Jose Rosete, who was portrayed as a compassionate, loving, hard working guy and not a jerk (as in, say, Thelma and Louise). This I appreciated.PLUS: The kid actors I hope careers continue cuz’ they shined for being in an awkward kind of weird lesbian low budget film.KUDOS TO the actress who played “Geri” (I think Amber Ryan)? who played the extreeemely “stereotypical dyke” who although her acting was troubled by the direction or decision of grabbing her crotch (gross) I thought would have been more fun if the character was say, a ghost? or the main characters angel or subconscious or something.Que Sera Sera. In conclusion: A for effort to the director, producer and all involved. BUT DO NOT EXPECT MUCH. THE ARE FAR BETTER Gay films our there. Just hope they keep making ‘em.

Holly Madison’s Sweet Birthday View
 |
Holly Madisonâs Sweet Birthday View Here’s Holly Madison celebrating her 30th birthday party at Jet nightclub. As much as I love Holly, I thought she was in her mid 30s and reaching cougar status. I know those funbags look about 18 but the rest of her seems a little weathered. I guess banging an old rich chap was a bad idea after all. That could all be changed though. Call me if you’d like some youth back inside you. I’ve got the fountain right here. See more pictures now!!! |

Shank[3 clips]
Shank tells the story of a closeted gang member Cal (Wayne Virgo) who is deeply in love with his best friend Jonno (Tom Bott). When Cal stops a senseless beating of college student Olivier (Marc Laurent), Jonno and his girlfriend Nessa (Alice Payne) seek retribution for what they perceive as Cal’s betrayal. Their anger grows and tragic consequences ensue when they discover Cal’s secret.Shank is set in a world not usually explored in gay cinema and as a coming out story there is a lot to be admired here. Unfortunately certain aspects of this film never work and that should have been apparent to the film makers early on.Virgo and Laurent are young, attractive and stripped for most of the film but have no chemistry together. At times the audience roared with laughter at Laurent’s soppy glances, terrible timing and absurd delivery. Despite what another reviewer has said, this did not “break the tension”. These moments simply drew sharp attention to the amateurish mistakes made by the director and the problems with the script.Marc Laurent’s performance as Olivier was dreadful. He might be a passable actor in his native French, but he lacked the experience and talent to give a nuanced performance in English. He simply couldn’t convey the necessary combination of vulnerability and strength that would make him desirable to Cal and the audience. I didn’t believe that the street tough would go for someone like Olivier. In contrast, the sexual tension between Cal and Jonno was electric. Tom Bott was completely believable as the sexy and dangerous Jonno. Bott’s performance was flawless, subtly portraying a range of complex conflicting emotions.Alice Payne turned in a promising performance as Nessa, and Wayne Virgo in the lead managed to hold the film together.Near the end of the film a series of events occur that simply didn’t seem plausible in the grander scope of the movie. We are asked to believe that a well-educated adult would act in a manner that contradicts common sense. His decisions are made doubly confusing with the final (contrived) revelation. There are no realistic consequences to the any of the character’s actions. We are also subjected to some heavy handed imagery and a few film school clichés.If you’re into queer cinema you will likely find something to enjoy in this first effort from director Simon Pearce. However, I think most audiences, gay or straight, won’t find the movie nearly as compelling as it should have been. |

Alexander Skarsgard Finally undressed in “True Blood”
Wow! That was a fabulous episode last night, and not just because we finally get a nude scene from Alexander Skarsgård. But Eric (and Godric) were definitely the highlights from beginning, middle, and most especially the end!

Kim Kardashians Body Bounces Around in True Fashion
Here’s some pics of Kim Kardashian, I don’t know who she is working for here but as usual she looks so out of place. I am in love with her physique though and that’s all that matters here really. Check her juicy body bouncing about as she jumps around and relaxes. Her curves define sexy when it comes to the female body. I would love to serve her the best 3 minutes of my life. Laid to Rest
My first reaction to the first few minutes of Laid to Rest was that it was a cheap, no-budget horror clip typical of the direct-to-video nonsense that you so often see populating the new release wall at the video store. Well, that I remember seeing on the new release wall at the video store, anyway. It’s been a couple yeas since I’ve lived in the states and even longer since Netflix left me with any reason to ever visit a video store, but back in 2004 or so I used to have that monthly no-limit rental service at both Blockbuster and Hollywood Video and for a brief period I tried to keep up with ALL of the new movies, which included this horizonless stream of train wrecks that seemed to come out of nowhere. And in many ways, that’s what Laid to Rest is, but in some interesting other ways, it’s not. Yeah it’s true that the story is a prime example of mind-numbing pointlessness, but it would be a mistake to relegate the thing to the dark world of bottom shelf obscurity. Sort of. You see, there’s not a scrap of originality or significance to the movie, but it is a perfect example of something bigger that is happening around us in the movie world at large.80 years ago, movie-going audiences would have been shocked out of their chairs to see a jock and a woman kiss on screen. Hell, 50 years ago they were still pretty uncomfortable with it. 10 years ago, even the most brutally violent horror movies more often than not showed the KILLER during the kill scenes, as movie blood sprayed all over them. Then Scream came along (by the way, true story just this second I mis-typed “Scream” and it accidentally came out “Scarem.” Interesting.) and we saw the hugely famous Drew Barrymore get stabbed in the chest in the opening scene. No cutaway or anything, remember that? The movie briefly goes into slow motion and audiences the world over were shocked that we were actually looking at this knife going into this girl’s chest. I’d been watching scary movies for years by that point and even I was pretty amazed. Strangely, to this day it is still a scene that makes me a little uncomfortable. Now, on the other hand, such a thing is as tame as those monster movies that had people jumping out of their chairs in the 1950s, so we get movies like Laid to Rest which, if you were to show it to some of those audiences, would probably flood the theaters with heart attack victims. There is no cutting away here, stud. Not by a long shot and it’s going to be a pretty good idea for you to be well aware of that before you start watching it.Such a movie could never be released in wide theatrical release, you understand, but that’s the enormous shift that’s taking place in the movie world right now. Making movies is getting easier, nearly to the point where any jerk with a camera and a computer can get a movie made as long as he can find someone to distribute it. Of course, it’s to be expected that these movies are almost uniformly awful, and Laid to Rest is a prime example. It’s pretty bad, but these things are getting better and they’re only going to continue to get better as people learn to make better and better movies with simpler equipment, at which point the direct-to- video market will grow and improve, and the important thing is that all of this will happen beyond the grasp of the censorship-happy MPAA.The result, of course, is that we get movies like Laid to Rest which feature nothing but the grotesque developments of pushing the violence envelope, which is really all that this movie does. Like literally. The movie has absolutely nothing to it except violence, which is why all this stuff about the MPAA came to my mind. There is no backstory to the killer in the movie whatsoever, or really any backstory to the story itself. Some big-breasted chestnut wakes up in a closed casket, no idea who she is or why she’s there. She manages to knock the thing over and escape, but before she gets out of the funeral home she witnesses a jock wearing a chrome skull mask brutally kill another fellow, and then the killer comes after her.Why does he want to kill her? Who knows? Who cares? Any explanation would just waste time. We understand that this is a slasher movie, and this particular slasher movie has no interest in such time-wasting things as character depth or coherent story structure. The important thing is that for the rest of the movie he relentlessly pursues her, viciously killing anyone who gets in his way with a serrated, double-edged knife.Gore hounds will be highly impressed, as the movie is astonishingly and graphically bloody. We get sustained shots of the killer sawing away at various body parts, and one scene where we the central cast pops the lids off of a succession of coffins, revealing some of the killer’s past kills, which he has taken the time to save, for future reference, let’s say. I won’t go into any details about the state of the victims in the coffins, let’s just say that they are one of many reasons that the movie is not for the faint of heart, or the squeamish, or really anyone who, for example, would feel some hesitation at taking up the opportunity to do a little dissecting work on a human cadaver. But the rest of you are going to love it
